Craft Fair

Craft Fair

Fundraising Craft Fair at Maenclochog Community Hall. Sat 15th October 2011.

Many visitors were delighted to be able to solve some of their Christmas Present problems at the hugely popular “Craft Fair” organised by members of the Church at Llys-y-Fran.  Maenclochog Hall was chosen because it really is a community hall in every sense of the word; it lends itself so well to this type of event.

From healing massages to Aloe Vera products;  skincare to make-up;  jewellery to card making;  weaving to cross stitch;  toys to driftwood-art;  Christmas decorations to knitwear;  computer help-desk to web design;  jams, pickles, honey and wonderful cakes, it was all there and beautifully displayed. All in all it was a truly remarkable “Window on Local Talent”.

The amazing diversity and astonishing professionalism of the exhibitors’ took everyone by surprise.  The displays were breath taking: if nothing else the day proved that the area around Maenclochog is second to none when it comes to artistic and business skills.

Llys-y-Fran Church members doled out tea and coffee and at lunchtime delicious homemade soup with a roll, ran a raffle, manned a “nearly new stall” and provided a Children’s play corner with activities for all ages.  The children had a whale of a time.

The organisers are delighted with the day on many levels; it was a social occasion really good to catch up with old friends with time for a chinwag and a cuppa, making new friends, meeting new neighbours unknown before Llys-y-Fran is a bit isolated; with houses scattered around the countryside; it was great for everyone to get together and have a chat with other members of our wonderful Community in the West Preseli area.

It was one of the most successful fund raisers St. Meilyrs Church has ever done.  Thanks to everyone who was involved especially those of you who made donations, and those who visited us and helping to make such a success of the day.

It will definitely become an annual event, the organisers will build on the feedback from their exhibitors together with the lessons they have learned from the event itself this year.  Hopefully this will result in an even better Craft Fair next year.  We look forward to welcoming you all in October 2012…..

Please visit our tiny church, you will be very welcome.
